This is a once turned bowl that is approximately 6.5"x2.5".
This piece has a hole where there was once a knot. I know, what good is a bowl with a hole in it, but this piece has some great character. Since it was turned and finished green there is a bit or warp to it and the hole in it where the knot was has some nice figure around it. If you were the artsy type, you could say that the hole represents the loss in your life and the figured wood around that hole represents the beauty that comes from struggle and aren't we all a little warped by our experiences? That is, of course, if you subscribe to that kind of thinking. I just think it looks cool.
The wood for this batch came from a friends house in Nolensville, TN.
Unfortunately, this large and beautiful maple had reached the end of it's life. It was very old and very large and produced some spectacularly figured wood.
This piece was sanded to 600, sealed with poly then buffed to bring out it's beauty.
